What You’ll Do- Respond to emergency calls and deliver essential medical care to patients.
- Assess medical needs, administer treatment, and document incidents accurately.
- Safely lift, transfer, and maneuver patients in and out of ambulances, facilities, and residences.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, healthcare professionals, and other emergency responders.
- Maintain documentation and records for transport, equipment inspection, and supplies usage.
- Adhere to PSI, Department of Health requirements, and continuing education/licensure protocols.
- Present a clean uniform and professional demeanor at all times.
- Inspect and report damage or safety issues with ambulances, vehicles, and equipment; assist with maintenance.
- Participate in public education, health safety programs, fire training, and community outreach activities.
- Respond to fire alarms, lay and connect hoses, operate pumping apparatus, and manage ladder operations.
- Operate fire rescue equipment, preserve evidence at scenes, and conduct search and rescue in hazardous environments.
- Assist training of fire department personnel in emergency medical techniques and maintain necessary drug inventories.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Current/Valid Illinois Driver’s License of proper classification.
- Successful completion of a Paramedic program and current Illinois Department of Public Health License.
- Completion of continuing education and testing requirements.
- State of Illinois Firefighter Certifications for Firefighter applicants.
- Successful background check and pre‑employment testing (Fit for Duty Physical, Drug Screening, Agility and Lifting).
