Job OverviewThe Shift Lead will train on the 1st shift (Mon – Thu 6 AM – 4:30 PM), then will move to the 2nd shift (4:45 PM – 3:15 AM Mon – Thu). The role involves managing cell operations for freight and locomotive valve assembly, ensuring quality, safety, and productivity.
Responsibilities- Understand all facets of work in the cell (basic disassembly, wash, rebuild, testing of freight and locomotive valves, brake pistons and test devices).
- Proper use of power and manual tools, operation of semi-automatic equipment, lapping, washes.
- Oversee OTJ training for all new cell employees.
- Instruct cell employees on work instructions, proper use of all tools and equipment.
- Maintain a 5S environment and address safety issues promptly.
- Conduct stand‑up meetings and issue instructions for daily goals and shift personnel.
- Work closely with Production Supervisor and Production Manager to meet rates and goals, report and resolve issues.
- Understand and support all Quality, Product Safety, and Health/Safety/Environmental/Energy policies.
- Understand and adhere to statutory or regulatory compliance obligations.
- Apply integrated management system policies, procedures, and instructions.
- Support relevant KPIs as defined in the goal tree.
- Technical capacity, with proficiency for levels 1, 2, and 3.
- Good mechanical skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
- Knowledge of best practices and theory.
- Organization and documentation skills.
- Leadership of other employees in major functions of the position.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Physical DemandsThe employee is required to talk, hear, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and lift or move up to 50 pounds.
RequiredEducation and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- One to two years of related experience.
- This job description does not limit duties; employees may be required to perform other job‑related tasks as instructed.
- Employment is at will; no implied contract.
- Hourly pay: $22.00–$26.00 in Riverside, MO (subject to experience, education, and other factors).
- Health, dental, vision, and life insurance; 401(k) plan.
