JOB DESCRIPTION:

This person will assist with keeping employees on track with production requirements while simultaneously performing the job.

• Teardown, assembly of locomotive freight valves and monitoring the function of each test code part.
• Understand the testing process when valves fail.
• Instruct and demonstrate to other employees when there are assembly errors.
• Perform hazardous waste management duties as necessary. Annual hazardous waste management will be completed. Department of Transportation Hazardous Materials Ground Shipper will be completed every three (3) years.
• Must understand and support all Quality, Product Safety, and Health/Safety/Environmental/Energy policies.
• Must understand and adhere to all relevant statutory or regulatory compliance obligations.
• Must understand, support and adhere to the Integrated Management System policies, procedures and instructions.
• Must understand and support relevant key performance indicators (KPIs), as defined in the goal tree.

Skills and Competencies

• Technical Capacity
• Proficient in all Level 1 and Level 2 Skills (teardown and assembly).
• Proficient in understanding the test code.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to understand what part of the valve is affected when failing tests.
• Ability to complete rack repairs when necessary.
• Knowledge of generally accepted best practices and theory.
• Good mechanical skills
• Knowledge of shop use of measuring devices.
• Basic knowledge of quantitative methods/statistical procedures and graphic skills.
• Organization Skills
• Time Management

Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

The employee will be exposed to shop floor conditions, i.e. noise, heat, cold, dust/dirt etc. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.

Required Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent (Preferred)
• One to Two years of related experience.
