Yard Associate - Seasonal

Job Summary: The Yard position will stock, gather, distribute, assemble orders, and load various products of the lumberyard to fulfill customer orders for pickup and/or delivery.

• Safely move freight, stock, or other materials to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, ships, or containers, by hand or using trucks, tractors, or other equipment.
• Read customer order, shipping order or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
• Load and unload trucks.
• Sort and place items on racks according to predetermined sequence.
• Operate forklift or hand truck to move or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to warehouse storage or work area.
• Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets or shelves or convey orders to shipping department.
• Stack lumber in yard or in shed.
• Drive diesel or gasoline powered industrial trucks equipped with lifting devices such as forklift to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials.
• Perform other duties as required.

• Seek to learn products and the applications.
• Know product locations in yard and warehouse.
• Ability to read a measuring tape.
• Keep forklift clean.
• Maintain yard cleanliness during course of work.

• Wear high visibility, safety PPE, and proper uniform.
• Perform daily lift inspections.
• Always look behind/honks horn when backing/rounding blind corners.
• Safely operate equipment.
• Promptly report all accidents/incidents and damaged products.
• Perform daily safety audit of forklift and promptly report any malfunctioning equipment.
• Keep aisles and exits clear.
• Participate on safety committee if needed.

• Exposure to year‑round outside weather conditions, including excessive heat, humidity, rain, cold, dust, ice/snow.
• Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
• The noise level is usually moderate.
