Tutor II (Hourly)
Job SummaryTo provide support to students through the provision of individual and/or group tutorial services.
Responsibilities- Tutor students according to set priorities and academic goals.
- Provide assistance to students on a one‑on‑one or group basis in the subject discipline, college study skills, and Learning Lab resources.
- Organize supplemental learning materials.
- Provide feedback on student progress.
- Assist with research, development, delivery, and evaluation of specialized tutoring services and/or resources for tutorial activities.
- Lead study groups in the subject matter.
- Knowledge of tutoring techniques, standards, and supplemental learning materials for individual and group tutoring.
- Knowledge of Learning Lab services and processes and resources for organizing and leading study groups.
- Skill in maintaining an established work schedule.
- Skill in maintaining confidentiality of work‑related information and materials.
- Skill in effectively using interpersonal and communication skills, including tact, patience, and diplomacy.
- Skill in effectively using organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and follow‑through.
- Skill in understanding and following instructions precisely.
- Skill in providing quality tutorial services to groups and individuals and providing feedback regarding student performance and/or progress.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with individuals from multicultural backgrounds, including students, fellow tutors, and faculty.
- Skill in maintaining a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that promotes good relations with students, co‑workers, and staff.
- Completed CETT‑1403, CETT‑1405, and CETT‑1425 with a grade of B or higher.
- Recommendation from a current or former ACC professor.
- Patience and willingness to help fellow students.
- Ability to get along well with others and be a team‑player.
- Flexible schedule.
- Successful completion of CETT‑1429.
- At least one year of related experience to the discipline.
- Degree or substantial undergraduate coursework in the discipline, and demonstrated competence in the subjects that will be tutored.
- Associate degree in the discipline or related field (preferred).
- One semester of related work experience (required for all tutor levels).
- Hourly position: $24.10 per hour.
- Up to 19 hours per week.
- Number of openings: 7.
- Locations:
Riverside or Round Rock Campus.
