Reporting directly to the Controller, the Staff Accountant plays a pivotal role in maintaining accurate financial records to monitor the company's financial activities, including assets, liabilities, profits, tax obligations, and related matters.
RequirementsRequirements:
- Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in Accounting from a four-year college or university.
- Five (5) years of experience in Accounting or Finance.
- At least two (2) years of experience in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
- Proficiency meeting the required competency level.
- Competency Matrix.
- Consistent demonstration of the company's core values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct reconciliations of general ledger accounts to ensure data accuracy and rectify any identified errors.
- Execute month-end close processes promptly and accurately as assigned.
- Prepare, analyze, and present financial trends and information to management.
- Complete annual working papers for CPA review/audit, company appraisal, and ESOP Administration.
- Serve as backup for the Accounting Specialist when necessary.
- Update the company's forecast software under the guidance of the Controller.
- Identify potential cost-saving opportunities through financial trend analysis.
- Review, verify, and upload payroll reports into the ERP system.
- Process new fixed assets in the FAS software and maintain associated records for accurate recording of purchases.
- Keep long-term debt worksheets updated and current.
- Conduct inventory reconciliations for spot checks and cycle counts, providing analytical insights to the Controller and Inventory Control Specialist.
