Systems Administrator, Senior
The role involves setting up, maintaining, and optimizing Linux-based infrastructure for Air Force customers, bridging complex technical execution with client communication and leading modernization initiatives.
Responsibilities- Manage and optimize infrastructure, ensuring architecture, security, and performance of systems and containerized environments.
- Provide customers with insights into their network through monitoring, performance management, and metric analysis.
- Identify problem areas, recommend improvements, and modernize the network to help clients achieve operational goals.
- Mentor and lead the team, sharing expertise and developing new methodologies to resolve daily challenges.
- 7+ years of Linux administration experience.
- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible or Terraform.
- Experience with containers (Docker, Kubernetes, Podman).
- Experience with SELinux, FApolicyd, STIG hardening, IdM/LDAP, secrets and certificates management.
- Knowledge of IT networking and security concepts.
- Ability to translate complex technical requirements into solutions for clients and engineers.
- TS/SCI clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a STEM field.
- DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification.
- RHEL administration experience.
- Deployment and management of production Kubernetes clusters (Open Shift, EKS, RKE).
- Experience with Helm charts, Kustomize, CSI, and CNI.
- Integration of IaC and Ansible into CI pipelines (Git Lab CI, Jenkins, Git Hub Actions).
- Knowledge of IP tables, NFTables, DNS, load balancing, HAProxy, Nginx, and name spaces.
- Proficiency with troubleshooting tools (ss, netstat, tcpdump, trace route, ping).
- Performance tuning, kernel patching, and Linux kernel optimization for container workloads.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a STEM field.
- Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Linux Foundation Certified Engineer (LFCE).
Projected annual range: $77,500.00 to $ (USD).
