Registered Nurse; RN-Smithfield ED-PRN-Mid or Night Shift

Overview

Smithfield, Virginia – Hiring Range $33.00 - $66.00/Hourly. The RN works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and Director, responsible for assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care in Critical Care/Telemetry units at Riverside Health System.

• Assess patient clinical and psychosocial needs, applying standards of practice.
• Partner with patients and families to develop, implement and evaluate care plans.
• Incorporate evidence‑based standards and collaborate with interdisciplinary team.
• Facilitate safe patient transitions to next care setting.
• Show sense of urgency to facilitate patient throughput and uphold ethical care.
• Focus on quality outcomes, addressing customer needs with current evidence‑based practice and quality measures.
• Demonstrate understanding of diverse patient populations and modify education methods accordingly.
• Educate patients/families, coordinate discharge‑specific education, evaluate comprehension and document.
• Accurately complete all required clinical and quality documentation per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
• Delegate and prioritize tasks to ensure quality patient care.
• Recognize and respond to emergency situations.
• Evaluate own needs for support and use systems to meet them.

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Nursing (preferred);
  Nursing Diploma (minimum).
• High School Diploma or GED required only if nursing diploma graduate.

• 1 year ED RN Experience for all PRN positions.

• Registered Nurse (RN) – Virginia Department of Health Professions or compact state (Required upon hire).
• CPR/BLS Certification (American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute) (Required upon hire).
• ACLS Provider (Required 1 yr RRMC within 90 Days).
• PALS Provider (Preferred RRMC within 180 Days).
• Trauma Certified RN (TNCC) (Preferred within 1 Year).
• Emergency Pediatric Certified RN (ENPC) (Preferred within 1 Year).

• Weekend shifts.
• Irregular shifts.
