ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides patient care as assigned and per routine as defined by educational scope, according to standards of care, shift routines, and policies and procedures.

Answers call lights in a timely and appropriate manner. Documents care provided according to standards.

Maintains a clean work and patient environment and supplies, including scanning, stocking, ordering new supplies and disposing of expired or damaged supplies.

Floats to various units based on identified patient care needs and participates in department or unit performance improvement activities.

Trains/precepts new partners in collaboration with unit educator, performs Blood Glucose Monitoring (BGM) with lab personnel, reviews bladder scanning procedures and completes bladder scanner training, attaches patient to remote telemetry or bedside cardiac monitor, and manages and reports collection devices such as colostomy, ileostomy, and other fecal management systems.

Cares for and measures indwelling catheters and nasogastric tubes to suction, handles surgical drains under direction of supervising RN, competently completes vital signs (manual blood pressure measurement) and reports abnormal values, and discontinues invasive devices under supervision (indwelling Foley catheters, nasogastric tubes, peripherally inserted intravenous catheters, and similar devices).

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Completion of a CNA program.

Current CNA certificate in applicable state.

Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days.

PAY RANGE

$17.57 - $25.48
