Marsha Fuerst School of Nursing is seeking a dedicated Nursing Faculty Instructor to help educate and inspire the next generation of nurses. We are looking for educators who are passionate about student success, patient-centered care, and evidence-based nursing practice.
Our faculty integrate Jean Watson's Theory of Caring, QSEN (Quality and Safety Education for Nurses) competencies, and the Nursing Process into both classroom and clinical instruction to prepare students for excellence in professional nursing.
Schedule10-12 hours per week
What You'll Do Teaching & Student Success- Teach theory and/or clinical nursing courses.
- Integrate Watson's Theory of Caring, QSEN competencies, and the Nursing Process throughout instruction.
- Demonstrate clinical skills and provide meaningful learning experiences that support student achievement.
- Evaluate student performance, maintain accurate records, and provide remediation when needed.
- Advise and mentor students regarding academic and clinical progress.
- Hold regular office hours and maintain effective communication with students.
- Develop, review, and revise course syllabi and curriculum.
- Select textbooks and learning resources aligned with course objectives.
- Participate in program evaluation, accreditation activities, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Help foster a culture of patient safety, quality improvement, teamwork, collaboration, evidence-based practice, and informatics.
- Coordinate student clinical experiences and orient students to clinical settings.
- Collaborate with healthcare agencies to support high-quality learning opportunities.
- Evaluate clinical sites and maintain relationships with community healthcare partners.
- Facilitate annual meetings with clinical agency representatives.
- Participate in department meetings, committees, college events, and peer review activities.
- Represent the School of Nursing professionally within the community and healthcare organizations.
- Pursue ongoing professional development and continuing education.
Required Qualifications Education
- Master's degree or higher with coursework in Nursing, Education, or Administration.
- Must meet California BRN faculty requirements and receive BRN approval.
Within the assigned specialty area (geriatrics, medical-surgical, mental health/psychiatric nursing, obstetrics, or pediatrics), candidates must meet one of the following:
- One year of continuous full-time (or equivalent) direct patient care experience as a Registered Nurse; or
- One academic year of RN-level clinical teaching experience demonstrating clinical competence.
- Validated clinical competency.
- One year of teaching experience, or completion of a post-baccalaureate nursing education course that includes teaching methodology and practice teaching.
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse environment.
- Fluent spoken and written English.
- Strong planning, organizational, and communication skills.
Candidates must qualify as a BRN-approved Instructor and be qualified to teach theory and/or clinical courses. Content experts must meet BRN standards, including appropriate graduate education, specialty preparation, and recent clinical or teaching experience in the designated nursing area.
