Position: DC Inventory Control Analyst I

Position Overview

This position supports distribution center initiatives, in conjunction with Inventory Control and non-Inventory Control related activities targeted to improve shrinkage, performance, and cost savings initiatives. It will directly impact the organization by partnering with multiple levels of the organization to drive, communicate, and execute million dollar initiatives for Burlington Stores. The role plays a key part in SOX compliance and inventory accuracy, researching, problem solving, performing root cause analysis, and processing financial inventory adjustments that impact inventory for either the East Coast or West Coast Distribution Centers and Warehouses in addition to the Burlington Stores.

The candidate must independently provide a strong research skill set and problem solving ability while leveraging the skills and knowledge of other team members across the Supply Chain to accomplish responsibilities. Experience in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment is required. The position requires travel to multiple facilities across multiple shifts as needed and compliance with SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures). It supports members of the Supply Chain, including Finance, Buyers, Allocations and Planning, Transportation, DC Operations, and Burlington Stores nationwide.

Day in the Life
  • Develop a thorough knowledge of internal department and external operational SOPs and best practices.
  • Ensure operational members accurately follow SOPs.
  • Perform thorough audits and document investigation methods and issues affecting inventory while performing root cause analysis.
  • Communicate (written and/or verbal) recommendations and engage the appropriate levels of management in the Supply Chain to assist with the escalation of items needing immediate attention.
  • Work with IT, POC, DC OPs, Finance and other work groups for assistance in research and problem solving.
  • Analyze and report systemic and operational issues to prevent situations that could result in the loss of company assets in a timely manner.
  • Play a key role in projects related to inventory movement and cost savings initiatives.
  • Ensure all key functions and reports, as assigned, related to inventory transactions are monitored consistently, accurately, and timely.
  • Cross‑train frequently on operational procedures.
  • Interact confidently and accurately with all levels of management.
  • Complete timely inventory adjustments as directed.
  • Audit and conduct operational research in order to identify receiving errors and reduce shrinkage.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    BA/BS preferred.
  • Licenses/Certification/Registration:
    Ability to become certified on DC equipment as needed.
  • Experience:

    1+ year Analyst, Inspection, Inventory Control or related distribution center/retail experience preferred.
  • Experience:

    1+ year experience with WMS (Warehouse Management System) and sortation system (Dematic) preferred.
  • Experience:

    Experience in a high‑volume distribution environment preferred.
  • Computer proficiency:
    Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and follow‑through skills.
  • Excellent math and problem‑solving skills, including root cause analysis.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a high‑performance team.
  • Ability to remain flexible to shifting priorities.
Physical Requirements
  • Work on site and remotely.
  • Travel to all Distribution Centers and Warehouses.
  • Sit at a computer for long periods of time.
  • Stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand, bend, and lift throughout the work day.
  • Frequent exposure to dust, high levels of noise, and moving machinery.
  • Respond to time‑critical issues.
