Foothills School Division (FSD) serves the learning needs of approximately 8,000 students from preschool to grade 12. We operate 22 public schools, an online digital school, an alternative campus, and three colony schools. These are located in the towns of Okotoks, High River, and Diamond Valley, and the communities of Blackie, Cayley, Heritage Heights, Red Deer Lake, Longview, Millarville and Foothills County.

FSD is seeking a collaborative and proactive Health & Safety Coordinator to support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Division's occupational health and safety program. Working closely with school leaders, operational departments, and employee groups, this position plays a key role in promoting safe learning and working environments across the Division.

The Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible for supporting health and safety compliance, workplace inspections, incident investigations, training coordination, hazard management, and health and safety program administration. The successful candidate will serve as a resource to schools and departments while helping ensure compliance with Alberta occupational health and safety legislation and best practices.

• Grade 12 education or equivalent
• Post‑secondary certificate or related coursework in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, Risk Management, Human Resources, or related discipline.
• Minimum two (2) years of related experience in occupational health and safety, risk management, compliance, investigations, training coordination, or related field.
• Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's License with access to a reliable vehicle.
• Experience with in a public sector, education, municipal, or unionized environment is considered an asset.
• Knowledge of Alberta Occupational Health and Safety legislation and best practices.
• Strong investigation, problem‑solving, and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

Based at the Facility Services Office in High River, Alberta, this position works year round for 40 hours per week. It is a permanent position commencing mid August to early September 2026.
