Position Summary
The Academic Coach is a grant-funded position that is primarily responsible for carrying out academic and college readiness student activities; providing academic advising; tutoring in core subjects; and assisting with other special activities to carry out the goals and objectives of the CWC GEAR UP WY grant.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Schedule and facilitate CWC GEAR UP WY project programs and activities reflective of the project vision of preparing students for college
* Monitor and support student academic success during school hours, lunchtimes, and after school
* Maintenance of confidential participant records and attendance
* Assist students in making academic plans and setting goals
* Recruit students to the program
* Operate within the framework established by CWC's policies, procedures, and practices
* Perform other reasonably related duties as directed or assigned
Position Specifications and
Minimum Qualifications
Education
* Associate's degree; with preferred coursework in education, social work, psychology, or sociology from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education. Individuals currently enrolled in college will be considered.
Licenses/Certifications
* Successful criminal background screening after job offer and pre-employment
* Driver's license o CPR/First Aid certification, or completion with hire
Equivalency Statement
* Equivalent combinations of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities are acquired may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Desired Qualifications
* Knowledge of federal grants and/or special population programs
* Experience working with educationally disadvantaged student-populations
* Knowledge of and skills in use of computers and Google applications
* Bachelor degree
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Ability to relate with a diverse population in a professional, helpful manner
* Ability to maintain confidential records for grant activities, student records, and attendance
* Ability to work independently while supporting a team effort
* Ability to organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects concurrently through to completion with an attention to detail; meeting deadlines
* Ability to tutor middle/high students in core subjects
* Ability to effectively identify and resolve problems
* Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
* Highly energetic and self-motivated with strong work ethic and high level of personal integrity
* Knowledge of CWC policies, procedures and practices.
Level of Supervision
* This position operates with limited supervision under the guidance of the Program Manager for CWC GEAR UP WY.
Working Environment

Physical Requirements
* Office/school/home settings with light work exerting 10-20 pounds of force occasionally when transporting supplies for grant activities.
Environmental Conditions
* Work is primarily performed in a school/classroom setting under limited supervision. Travel in local service area. Evening and weekend work may be required on occasion.
