The Riverton School District is seeking qualified applicants for a part-time Parent Educator for the Prevention Initiative Program for the remainder of the school year. The Part-Time Parent Educator position will be for four hours per day. Parent Educator wages are $24.50 per hour for the school year. Please see the included job description for additional details.
Job DescriptionTitle: Parent Educator
Qualifications: High-school diploma or equivalency and a minimum of two year's previous supervised work experience with young children and/or parents.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's or four-year degree in early childhood education, social work, health, psychology, or a related field; strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to establish rapport with families and empower them by building on their strengths; strong organizational and record keeping skills; ability to work independently and be self-motivated; computer skills including web browsing, email, internet, and word processing.
Reports To: Birth to Three Program Director
Job Goal: Implement the Parents as Teachers model, emphasizing parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting, and family well-being in their work with families. Utilize the Parents as Teachers Foundational Curriculum in culturally sensitive wars, the parent educator partners, facilitates, and reflects with families.
Terms of Employment: 180-day contract; salary and benefit package as established by the Board
Evaluation: Annually as established by Board Policy
- Engage in recruitment activities (as applicable).
- Complete an initial and annual family-centered assessment with each family.
- Develop, monitor, and review goals with each family
- Plan, provide, and document personal visits using the Penelope data system, focused on parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting and family well-being.
- Willing to learn and use technology to carry out home visits and track family and program information.
- Use the Parents as Teachers Foundational Curriculum to share research-based information with families.
- Provide group connections to give families an opportunity to build social connections with each other, engage in parent-child interaction activities, and increase their knowledge of ways to support children's development.
- Complete at least an initial and annual developmental screening and health review for each enrolled child.
- Connect families to resources that help them reach their goals and address their needs.
- Help parents and children transition to other services as needed, to preschool, or kindergarten.
- Maintain and submit in a timely way all required family and program documentation using the Penelope data system.
- Organize and inventory supplies, materials, etc.
- Participate in at least two hours of reflective supervision monthly and at least two hours of staff meetings monthly.
- Obtain competency-based professional development and renew parent educator certification annually.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement.
Other duties as assigned by administration and as meets the parameters of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
