Concurrent Enrollment Director
Under direction of the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management, provide leadership, direction, and implementation of quality practices for SLCC's comprehensive Concurrent Enrollment (CE) program. The SLCC CE director oversees the day-to-day operations and strategic vision of the SLCC CE program, including: supervising full-time staff; collaborating with key internal and external partners to continually improve the operations and quality of the SLCC CE program, identify critical issues that need resolving;
keep up-to-date on all relevant Concurrent Enrollment laws, policies, and trends both within the state of Utah and nationally; manage a large, self-support budget and portfolio of diverse projects.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities & Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Essential Duties & Responsibilities The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to plan, develop, and implement innovative strategies that lead the CE program to high levels of performance. In accomplishment of these objectives, the successful candidate will:
Communicate and collaborate with appropriate Salt Lake Community College (SLCC), district, and high school administrators and faculty (approximately 400) to deliver high-quality SLCC Concurrent Enrollment courses. Oversee annual Concurrent Enrollment course approvals including distribution of Course Proposal Forms to SLCC academic leaders and issuance of approval letters to instructors. Ensure efficient transition of course changes.Initiate and conduct instructional discipline-specific collaboration and professional development meetings among high school and college faculty.Direct regular program and faculty evaluations to ensure quality, rigor, and integrity of the delivery of all SLCC concurrent enrollment courses.Develop, recommend, publish, and implement concurrent enrollment policies and procedures to ensure program quality. Investigate and correct matters of non-compliance with policy.Prescribe, recommend, and implement changes for program effectiveness, course changes, and/or policies within the specifications of the Utah System of Higher Education (USHE), Utah State Office of Education (USOE) and SLCC administrators in collaboration with appropriate high school and district personnel.Oversee class scheduling, tracking of courses, student registration, and grade reporting. Oversee dissemination of marketing materials to high school counselors, parents, students and administrators.Represent Concurrent Enrollment on college, district, regional, state-wide and national committees under the direction of a college administrator. Address high school/college partnership and concurrent enrollment distance learning issues.Research national trends in high school/college partnerships and implement appropriate procedures to continually improve the program. Work with the SLCC institutional research office to initiate annual studies on subjects such as quality control, satisfaction, impact on secondary education, student retention and growth. Prepare regular reports to present to administration, trustees, regents, and accrediting organizations.Develop and manage budgets and self-generated Concurrent Enrollment revenues.Initiate and conduct professional development activities for new concurrent enrollment teachers and SLCC faculty liaisons.Deliver presentations at schools and public functions to support Concurrent Enrollment.Supervise personnel including support staff, full-time discipline-specific Concurrent Enrollment liaisons and additional part-time employees, approximately 16 by Fall 2025.Oversee Concurrent Enrollment course monitoring by college faculty liaisons and compensate according to work assignment.Work with the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP) to maintain and strengthen SLCC's Concurrent Enrollment program and accreditation.Lead out as chair of Concurrent Enrollment strategic plan initiative to transform Concurrent Enrollment into a Pathways-intentional program with matriculation to SLCC and credential completion as primary objectivesKnowledge Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated understanding of the Concurrent Enrollment program and how it functions within a comprehensive community college.
- Ability to clearly articulate educational pathways for students including both transfer education and career and technical education pathways.
- Ability to network with others, consider multiple perspectives, and effectively create workable solutions that take these perspectives into consideration. Ability to understand and apply Concurrent Enrollment guidelines, legislation, and policies.
- Demonstrated understanding of and ability to follow College operations, policies, procedures, student services and academic programs.
- Demonstrated understanding of high school and school district operations, policies and procedures.
- Ability to plan, develop, and manage budgets within existing resources.
