Automation Engineer

The Automation Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, implementation, testing, and commissioning of automation and control systems throughout the project lifecycle. Working under the guidance of senior engineers and project managers, this role contributes to the development of reliable and efficient automation solutions that meet client requirements, project specifications, and industry standards. The Automation Engineer collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and vendors to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the expected quality standards, while continuously developing technical knowledge and professional skills.

• Work as part of a larger multi-disciplined project team
• Participate in the automation scope within multidisciplinary project teams
• Interpret and challenge User Requirement Specifications (URS)
• Define automation architecture and control system strategies
• Develop and validate: I/O lists from equipment lists and P&IDs;
  Functional analyses and control philosophies;
  Network architectures and system layouts
• Design, program, and validate: PLC systems; HMI/SCADA systems;
  Integrated automation solutions
• Ensure compliance with:
  Industry standards (GMP, GAMP, ISA where applicable);
  Client specifications and internal best practices
• Participate and oversee:
  Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT);
  Site Acceptance Tests (SAT);
  Commissioning activities
• Troubleshoot complex automation and integration issues
• Review and approve technical documentation:
  Functional Design Specifications (FDS);
  Test protocols and reports;
  Operation & Maintenance manuals
• Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers
• Interface directly with clients, vendors, and stakeholders
• Support proposal development and contribute to technical sales when required
• Deliver training to operators, technicians, and clients
• Develop the PLC program and/or HMI program from Boccard’s or the client’s development specifications
• Participate and lead internals tests, such as Factory Acceptance Test, Site Acceptance Test and Commissioning, including documentation their respective protocols,
• Compile and author the Operator Installation Manual and technical equipment files
• Provide operator and maintenance technician training

Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial automation in life sciences, food & beverage, or process industries.
