This is a substitute position that is as needed.
REPORTS TO:JOB SUMMARY:
The Educational Assistant will assist classroom teachers, reinforcing materials and lessons covered in the classroom to facilitate student learning.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION:- Minimum requirement is a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a teacher's assistant is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of childhood growth and development.
- Ability to relate to children and reinforce lessons taught in class.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate with the classroom teacher.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions.
- Proficient with Google Suite or related software.
- Provides support to the teacher in classroom instruction and management.
- Assists the teacher with classroom activities and lessons.
- Works with individual students who require additional or modified instruction.
- Builds and maintains positive relationships with students and parents.
- Prepares communication folders to be sent home with students.
- Monitors students when the teacher is out of the classroom.
- Escorts students to other areas of the school such as the bathroom, playground, gym, or other classrooms; monitors behavior during recess and snacks.
- Assists with student drop-off and pickup.
- Enforces safety and security standards for children, staff, and visitors.
- Maintains attendance records and parent communication in Bright Wheel.
- Will assist on the bus with student pick-up and drop-off.
- Maintains knowledge of research, developments, and best practices in early childhood education.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 30% sitting, 35% walking, 35% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and in a generally hazard free environment.
Pre-employment drug testing is required for all CDSFC positions. The Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Safety Policy is available from the Human Resources office.
