Required Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent
- Substitute Teaching Certificate
- Academic knowledge in secondary and/or elementary core subject areas
- Knowledge of teaching techniques and academic programs
- Relevant life experience that relates to work with at risk youth
- Adept at building positive relationships with staff, students and stakeholders
- Strong Written and Verbal Communication Skills
- Excellent organization skills
- Experienced in various Computer/Technology tools
- Mandt trained or willingness to be trained
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching experience
- Bachelor's degree. Further preference will be given for degree(s) in Education, counseling, applied social science or similar orientation
- Background in PBIS and Restorative Justice
To build positive, trusting relationships with assigned students and assist them as they work to meet their academic goals.
Primary Responsibilities- Conduct individualized tutorial sessions for assigned students with academic deficiencies; helps to determine what skill areas require additional assistance.
- Design and implement exercises and activities to facilitate assigned students’ academic improvement.
- Assist with the maintenance of records required to document assigned students’ attendance and academic progress.
- Help to determine students’ needs for assistance in other areas such as counseling and makes referrals as necessary.
- Help students develop independent study skills and organization techniques to help improve their academic performance.
- Communicate proactively with teaching staff, students, parents and building administrators as applicable.
- Report to the school administrator if unsatisfactory progress is observed in tutoring sessions.
- May be involved in arranging or assisting various special academic programs which are in addition to normal tutorial sessions.
- Other duties as assigned.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as policies and regulations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence.

Salary ScheduleThis position will be paid according to the approved Classified Student Support Salary Schedule.
Terms of EmploymentTeacher School Year Calendar +5 days, unless otherwise assigned by supervisor.
ClearancesEmployment is contingent on a local, state, and federal criminal background clearance.
