INTERIM HIGH SCHOOL ASSISTANT COACH (MARCHING BAND)

Reports to: Building Principal and Activities Director
Job DescriptionThe School Coach works under the direction of the Activities Director. They should be a creative motivator, have effective communication skills, and possess a positive coaching style. This person must also set appropriate level expectations for their sports team while maintaining strong, healthy relationships with students, parents, teachers, and administrators.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must have or be willing to acquire the appropriate WY Professional Teaching Standards Board coaching permit
- None
- Foster the department, school philosophy and mission statement of Fremont County Schools
- Establish philosophy and system to teach fundamental skills and techniques to staff and student‑athletes
- Interest in fostering diversity, inclusion, and social justice to promote a healthy learning environment
- Keep everyone informed and implement league bylaws, rules, and regulations, as well as those of the school’s handbook and National Federation Rules Book
- Ensure lower‑level head coaches, assistant coaches, and student‑athletes adhere to an established Code of Ethics
- Coordinate contest transportation and early departure time and/or other special arrangements as discussed with and approved by the Activities Director
- Assist in the care and upkeep of facilities and equipment
- Maintain a team web page (rosters, results, etc.)
- Delegate supervision assignments to coaching staff, including locker room, practice area, buses, away games, weight room, etc., to maintain safety
- Attend appropriate meetings for the league, coaching staff, and Activities Department
- Help represent the department at various events, including admission open houses, general parent meetings, banquets, etc.
- Other duties as assigned

- Works independently with little direct supervision

- Demonstrates strong work ethic to achieve District goals
- Displays effective multitasking and time management skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as policies and regulations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence.

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of certified or classified personnel.
SALARY SCHEDULEThis position will be paid according to the approved Coach Contracts Salary Schedule.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENTSport Calendar, unless otherwise assigned by supervisor.
CLEARANCESEmployment is contingent on a local, state, and federal criminal background clearance.
