Instructional Faculty Position

This is a 9-month position. Salary is dependent upon education level and experience. Position Summary Instructional faculty has the important responsibility of creating an innovative learning environment both inside and outside the classroom to inspire success and excellence in student learning. Instructional faculty members are also expected to adhere to professional standards and ethics.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Teach various Psychology courses.
  • Responsible for the Psychology A.A. program curriculum as well as the advanced Psychology coursework in the BAS degree.
  • Instructional competency including knowledge of Psychology, Sociology, and related Social Sciences.
  • Evaluation of student progress
  • Additional Duties

  • Provide an outcomes-based and interdisciplinary focused curriculum.
  • Be student focused.
  • Works with the Central Wyoming College (CWC) Admissions Department to recruit students into CWC's Psychology program and other CWC programs.
  • Participate in community outreach efforts as needed.
  • Use innovative pedagogies and emerging technology to enhance learning.
  • Promote a collaborative learning environment that extends beyond the traditional classroom.
  • Keep current on degree requirements in order to advise students majoring in Psychology and the Social Sciences Meta Majors and other areas as necessary.
  • Assist in department and program budget development and compliance.
  • Actively participate in annual and five year academic program review(s) including assessment of student learning at the course, program and institution levels.
  • Revise curriculum offerings as needed.
  • Works with CWC BOCHES and high school psychology teachers to offer concurrent and/or dual credit courses within the CWC service area.
  • Assess concurrent enrollment Psychology coursework.
  • Participates in college and university articulation conferences as required and attends department and division meetings.
  • Share student information with other faculty and counselors when deemed appropriate, including progress reports, attendance records, etc.
  • Post and maintain office hours.
  • Represents division on college committees as required.
  • Performs other reasonable or related duties as directed.
  • Participates in college and university articulation conferences and creates and updates transfer agreements with the University of Wyoming Psychology Department.
  • Typical Qualifications

    Position Specifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Education Master's degree in psychology or directly related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education.
    • Experience Two years of directly related instructional experience, preferably in a higher education setting.
    • Licenses/Certifications None required.
    • Equivalency Statement Equivalent combinations of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

    Desired Qualifications

    • Experience working with college-age students preferably as an instructor and/or in other capacities.
    • Professional licensure and/or a doctorate degree in Psychology or related social science discipline would be a plus.
    • Willingness to complete additional graduate credits in the social sciences to qualify to teach in additional disciplines.

  • Ability to promote a positive atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation both with the college and the community.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion within established deadlines.

  • Ability to maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues and supervisors.
