Project Coordinator

The Kearney Companies is a locally owned and operated Site & Utilities Contractor based in Riverview, FL. With more than 65 years of experience, we deliver site development, underground utilities, roadway construction, and public infrastructure projects throughout the Tampa Bay area. As our workload continues to grow, we are seeking a Project Coordinator who will support active projects while owning final stabilization and SWPPP coordination through project closeout.

Position Summary The Project Coordinator – Final Stabilization & SWPPP supports civil construction projects from pre-construction through final closeout, combining core project coordination responsibilities with oversight of stabilization and erosion control efforts.

This role works closely with Project Managers, field crews, vendors, inspectors, and clients to ensure projects remain organized, compliant, and inspection-ready. The position requires a strong understanding of field operations, plan interpretation, and the ability to proactively drive closeout activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Coordination & Administrative Support Support Project Managers with day-to-day coordination of civil construction projects from start through closeout.

Assist with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource coordination.

Track project progress and assist with reports, logs, schedules, and status updates.

Identify potential risks, conflicts, or delays and communicate them proactively.

Serve as a professional point of contact for internal teams, clients, subcontractors, vendors, and inspectors.

Facilitate communication between office staff and field operations.

Maintain organized document control including plans, specifications, revisions, and correspondence.

Prepare and distribute project-related correspondence, reports, and presentations.

Assist with project cost tracking and basic reporting.

Support compliance with company policies, safety standards, and applicable regulations.

Final Stabilization & SWPPP Coordination Review civil plans and specifications to understand stabilization, erosion control, and closeout requirements.

Coordinate stabilization activities to align with grading completion, site readiness, weather conditions, and project schedules.

Manage ordering, scheduling, and delivery coordination for stabilization materials as required by project scope and jurisdictional standards (including sod when applicable).Communicate with field teams to confirm readiness for stabilization activities and inspections.

Track stabilization progress across multiple active projects and support timely resolution of deficiencies.

Adjust schedules and material needs in response to site conditions, inspection results, or project delays.

Support SWPPP compliance efforts and assist with stabilization-related inspections.

Drive final stabilization efforts to ensure projects meet inspection and closeout requirements.

Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
3–5 years of experience in civil construction, site work, project coordination, or material coordination.

Strong understanding of site development, grading, erosion control, and stabilization processes.

Ability to read and interpret civil construction plans and specifications.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work in the field as needed.
