The Materials Procurement Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of construction materials for heavy civil infrastructure projects such as large scale residential projects, roadways, and commercial/industrial projects. This position requires strong negotiation skills, industry knowledge, and the ability to coordinate with suppliers, project teams, and field operations to maintain project schedules and budgets.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement procurement plans aligned with project timelines and budgets.
• Source and evaluate suppliers for construction materials including aggregates, concrete, steel, piping, geotextiles, and other civil infrastructure components.
• Negotiate contracts, pricing, and delivery terms with vendors.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Monitor vendor performance and resolve issues related to quality, delivery, or compliance.
• Coordinate delivery schedules to ensure materials arrive on-site as needed.
• Work with logistics teams to optimize transportation and storage solutions.
• Track inventory levels and forecast future material needs.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier communications.
• Liaise with project managers, engineers, and site supervisors to understand material requirements.
• Provide regular updates on procurement status and potential risks to project timelines.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred).
• 3+ years of procurement experience in the construction industry, preferably in heavy civil projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials and industry suppliers.
• Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
