Phlebotomist I

We are seeking a skilled and patient-focused Phlebotomist I to join our team in Riverview, FL. The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the face of the organization, providing exceptional patient care while collecting high-quality blood specimens for laboratory testing. This role requires strong phlebotomy expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and safety.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment while delivering a positive patient experience and adhering to established procedures and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures on patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations.
  • Ensure accurate specimen collection, labeling, processing, and preparation for laboratory testing.
  • Follow established clinical and forensic specimen collection procedures and protocols.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and safeguard sensitive health information.
  • Provide clear explanations of collection procedures and address patient concerns professionally.
  • Create a welcoming and professional environment that promotes patient trust and confidence.
  • Complete daily activities accurately and within designated timelines.
  • Maintain required records, documentation, and data entry with a high level of accuracy.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and infection control procedures.
  • Demonstrate organizational values and maintain a positive image with patients, clients, employees, and the public.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and team members to support operational excellence.
Required Qualifications Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant, Paramedic, or related medical training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy Certification preferred (required in certain states, including California, Nevada, and Washington).
Experience
  • Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience required.
  • One or more years of phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Customer service experience in a healthcare, retail, or service environment preferred.
  • Keyboarding and data entry experience required.
Required Skills
  • Strong phlebotomy skills, including experience with pediatric and geriatric patients.
  • Ability to provide high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy while handling multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of specimen handling, processing, and documentation requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a clinical laboratory, diagnostic laboratory, or patient service center environment.
  • Experience using electronic medical records (EMR) and laboratory information systems.
  • Demonstrated success in providing exceptional patient care and customer service.
