Job SummaryThe Production Associate at RWB Thrift is responsible for executing diverse tasks and processes within backroom operations. This position requires attention to detail, physical endurance, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment. Production Associates may be assigned to various roles within the backroom. A top performing individual is eager to enhance and broaden their skills, enabling them to perform well in multiple areas of the backroom as business needs dictate.
Below are brief descriptions of various job functions on any given shift.
- Hanger – Hang products and ensure proper placement, monitor color order, sleeve length, and garment type.
- Tagger – Affix price tags, enter prices into the pricing machine, and learn pricing for the sales floor.
- Pricer Support – Support pricers, learn pricing tasks, and provide coverage during a pricer’s absence.
- Tallyer & Sensor Support – Count items, attach sensors to products, and ensure inventory accuracy.
- Runner – Deliver priced merchandise to its designated location on the sales floor, maintain organization, report safety concerns, and assist customers as needed.
- Perform diverse tasks and processes within backroom operations as assigned.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in backroom areas.
- Follow company policies and procedures for efficient and safe operations.
- Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and support store operations.
- Previous thrift, retail, warehouse, or back‑of‑house experience preferred, but not required.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Ability to safely perform job functions in accordance with ADA, FMLA, and other standards, including meeting productivity requirements.
- Physical strength: capable of occasionally lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs, frequently exerting up to 25 lbs of force, and applying negligible force when handling objects.
- Endurance: able to stand for extended periods of time.
- Manual dexterity: proficient in repetitive motions and working primarily with fingers.
- Fine motor skills: skilled in tasks involving grasping, holding, turning, or otherwise working with hands.
- Balance and agility: capable of maintaining body equilibrium on narrow, slippery, or moving surfaces.
- Visual acuity: possess clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more.
- Atmosphere: dynamic, consistently busy, requiring thriving in fast‑paced environments.
- Noise level: noisy due to bustling activity on the sales floor and production area; requires effective work in noise.
- Lighting: bright throughout front and back of store; requires effective work in bright environment.
- Interactions with others: regular interaction with customers, donors, and coworkers; requires effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility: high degree of flexibility, with possible task or department changes as operational needs arise.
- Not required to communicate exclusively in English, but may need to interact with English‑using customers, donors, and colleagues. Fundamental understanding of written and spoken English is necessary for instructions, verbal, and written communication.
