Stantec's Cultural Resources team in Riverview and Tallahassee, FL requires on‑call archaeological technicians to conduct Phase I, II, and III archaeological surveys, testing, data recovery, and monitoring throughout Florida and surrounding southeastern states. The position involves 5‑ or 10‑day rotations of 8–10 hour workdays. Travel and accommodations are provided as per company policy.
Key Responsibilities- Perform controlled surface survey, shovel testing, and excavation.
- Conduct fieldwork tasks as defined by project requirements.
- Experience on Phase I survey projects preferred.
- Experience in Phase II testing or Phase III data recovery projects preferred.
- Previous experience with mapping equipment and special applications such as ESRI’s ArcGIS Field Maps and ArcGIS Survey
123. - Knowledge of land navigation using a compass.
- Valid driver’s license with good driving record; comfortable driving F‑150 or equivalent on unpaved roads.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Detail oriented, resourceful, self‑motivated, and strong initiative.
- Positive and energetic attitude.
- Bachelor’s Degree in anthropology/archaeology or related field, or equivalent education and experience.
- Successful completion of an archaeology field school.
- Professional experience conducting archaeological survey and excavation preferred.
- Knowledge of precontact and historic material culture.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in remote areas and humid climate.
- Frequent out‑of‑town travel, potentially extended periods of time.
- Strong technical and communication skills; decision‑making in the field.
