Field/Service Technician, Installation Technician
The Field Technician is responsible for performing installation, repair, and service work at customer locations and job sites. This role supports field operations by completing assigned service calls, maintaining strong customer relationships, and ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. Depending on the business unit, work may include installation and repair of building products such as doors, trim, windows, or related systems.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands‑on work, problem‑solving, and working in a fast‑paced field environment.
- Perform scheduled service, repair, and installation work based on work orders and customer requests
- Load service vehicles with materials, tools, and equipment needed for daily routes and job assignments
- Complete assigned service calls and routes efficiently and professionally
- Diagnose issues in the field and implement appropriate solutions
- Install, adjust, or repair building products and related components as needed
- Communicate with customers and internal teams regarding job status, findings, and service updates
- Complete service documentation and reports accurately and in a timely manner
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality and customer satisfaction
- Maintain service vehicles, tools, and equipment in good working condition
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements
- Support team members and assist with additional field or operational tasks as needed
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Problem‑solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Experience in service, installation, maintenance, construction, or related field
- Experience working with building products such as doors, trim, windows, or similar systems
- Familiarity with tools, equipment, and field service operations
- Experience in customer-facing environments such as retail, hospitality, or service industries
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform physical tasks throughout the day
- Ability to lift and move materials as required
- Ability to perform work in field, construction, residential, and outdoor environments
- Ability to travel between job sites and customer locations frequently
- Ability to work extended hours based on business needs and workload
