Counter party Risk Manager
As a Risk Manager at Capital One you’ll be responsible for working with business partners to identify and mitigate potential risks to Capital One. Risk Managers at Capital One are the front line of defense to ensure our Company remains stable and profitable. This role functions as a manager‑level escalation point for the team. They review and approve risk decisions, step in on more complex or critical risk situations, and act as the escalation point before issues reach senior leadership.
They may also conduct some analysis themselves, particularly when the risk exposure is high. They have a high level of exposure across lines of business and have the opportunity to work with Executives to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risks to the Company.
- Serve as interdepartmental liaison, interfacing with lines of business and staff functions such as Legal and other areas of Risk
- Gather data and reporting; perform initial analysis or potentially evaluate data provided by team analysts
- Design and implement internal governance processes
- Test controls and track issues
- Manage, implement and deliver on a subset of the program deliverables
- Bachelors Degree or military experience
- At least 4 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business clients
- At least 3 years of Financial Services Counter party Risk Management experience
- At least 2 years experience with credit or financial analysis
- Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting
- Experience reviewing financial statements
- Experience with Excel or Google Sheet
- Payments industry experience

McLean, VA: $151,900 - $173,400 for Risk Manager. Riverwoods, IL: $138,100 - $157,700 for Risk Manager. Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance‑based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long‑term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non‑discretionary depending on the plan.
