Overview of HSBC Infrastructure Finance – Infrastructure Finance:The global HSBC Infrastructure Finance (“HIF”) team, comprised of Infrastructure Finance and Export Finance product verticals, provides a full suite of financing solutions to corporates, financial sponsors, financial institutions and governments in a variety of sectors, including Energy Transition, Infrastructure, Transport, Power, Oil & Gas and Petrochemicals, among others. The team acts as a central point for clients to access product agnostic advice on financing, capital structure and structured debt capital markets, as well as origination and execution of infrastructure, project and export finance lending mandates.
The Export Finance team supports cross-border trade by using government programs administered by Export Credit Agencies (“ECAs”) to credit enhance the financing provided to project developers undertaking capital expenditure investments that involve importation of equipment and services from abroad. Export Finance is a global team with presence in London, Dubai and Hong Kong, along with a number of other locations in Europe and Asia.
The business is one of the world’s leading arrangers of ECA supported debt with a long-established track-record.
In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), HIF is represented through an on-the-ground Infrastructure Finance (IF) team of HSBC Saudi Arabia (HBSA), whose principal focus is to (i) advise KSA-based and international clients on project finance debt raising, (ii) advise the KSA Government and key clients on procurement of PPP / BOOT transactions, and (iii) support HSBC Group entities and Saudi Awwal Bank (SAB), an HSBC affiliate in the Kingdom, for project and export finance balance sheet deployment.
The team is also involved in origination and execution of ECA-backed transactions in cooperation with HSBC’s Export Finance team in Dubai that has the wider responsibility for originating and structuring such transactions in the Middle East, North Africa and Türkiye (MENAT) region.
HIF is seeking an Associate to join the team in Riyadh and support the Riyadh and Dubai based teams in the origination and execution of ECA transactions in the Kingdom. The position will report into the Co-Head of Investment Banking for HBSA.
Applicants should be strong team players, showing high levels of motivation and work ethic, underpinned by a keen interest in export finance. They will also be strong communicators both with internal and external stakeholders, with the latter including consultants, legal counsel, and other market participants.
- Support origination, in coordination with product and coverage teams, as well as SAB, of ECA financing opportunities with KSA corporate and Government entities.
- Support the development of outbound ECA business from the KSA in the form of medium/long-term financing products offered by Saudi Exim Bank and ICIEC; support deal origination with KSA exporters and other relevant entities.
- Support HBSA’s IF team in origination of project finance advisory assignments where such relate to ECA financing.
- Lead or support, as relevant, execution of ECA financing mandates with clients in the Kingdom, in collaboration with other relevant teams. In the case of project finance advisory opportunities, support the coordination of ECA financing related aspects with HSBC’s global Export Finance team.
- Collaborate effectively across multi-functional teams to deliver HSBC’s universal banking product range to clients, maximizing cross-sell opportunities.
- Conduct industry and company-specific research and share market trends, knowledge and ideas with the relevant teams.
