Saudi Gold Refinery (SGR) is a Saudi mining and precious‑metals company specialized in the refining of gold and precious metals, bullion production, and value‑added precious‑metal services. Saudi Gold Refinery (SGR) is seeking a Finance Director in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to lead the financial operations for our integrated mining and refining business. This role oversees financial reporting, treasury, cost accounting, and regulatory compliance for our dore processing and bullion production activities. The Finance Director ensures robust financial controls while supporting the company's growth in exploration and refinery expansion.
The Finance Director will report directly to the CFO and will play a key role in optimizing working capital and managing the financial risks associated with precious metal inventory. This position drives financial discipline across the organization and supports the strategic objectives of Vision 2030 by enhancing the economic value of Saudi mineral resources.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Finance Director is responsible for the following key areas of financial management and control.
The role ensures timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS and Saudi regulatory requirements.
Treasury ManagementThis position manages bullion inventory valuation, liquidity planning, and hedging strategies to mitigate commodity and foreign exchange risks.
Cost AccountingThe Finance Director develops and maintains cost models for refining operations to track yield, recovery rates, and production efficiency.
Budgeting and ForecastingThe role leads the annual budgeting process and quarterly forecasting cycles for exploration, refining, and corporate functions.
Tax and Zakat ComplianceThis position ensures accurate and timely filing of Zakat, VAT, and other tax obligations in coordination with ZATCA.
Internal ControlsThe Finance Director maintains a robust internal control framework to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with LBMA and anti‑money laundering standards.
Capital Expenditure ControlThe role monitors and reports on capital expenditure for exploration drilling and refinery projects against approved budgets.
This position leads, develops, and mentors the finance team while ensuring Saudization targets are met in accordance with Nitaqat regulations.
Audit CoordinationThe Finance Director serves as the primary liaison for external auditors and regulatory inspections to ensure smooth audit processes.
Systems OptimizationThe role oversees the finance module of the ERP system to ensure accurate data integration from operational systems to financial ledgers.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, CMA, or SOCPA is mandatory.
- Minimum of 13 years of finance experience with significant time in a leadership role.
- Experience in the mining, metals, or heavy industrial sector is essential.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and Saudi tax and zakat laws is required.
- Proven experience in treasury management and commodity accounting.
- Demonstrated ability to manage finance teams in a multi‑site environment.
- Fluency in English is required, and Arabic proficiency is highly preferred.
- Experience with LBMA Good Delivery standards and precious metals accounting.
- Master's degree in Finance or Business Administration.
- Experience with ERP implementation in an industrial setting.
- Knowledge of exploration project finance and capital raising.
- Certification in internal auditing or risk management.
- Monthly financial close completed within 5 working days.
- Unqualified audit opinion received for annual financial statements.
- Zero penalties or fines for tax and zakat filings.
- Accurate bullion inventory valuation with minimal variances.
- Cost accounting reports delivered weekly to support operational decisions.
- Budget variance analysis provided monthly with actionable insights.
- Finance team Saudization levels maintained in compliance with Nitaqat.
