OpportunityEY’s Financial Services Risk Management (FSRM) practice is an advisory unit that provides risk management support to banks, insurers, and asset managers. We are seeking a Senior Manager to join our team with strong technical expertise, business insight, and proven experience within the Big Four.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a member of the Risk Management – Financial Crime Compliance team, you will deliver advisory services focused on Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) and Fraud for clients in the financial services industry. This includes:
- Supporting clients on AML/CFT, sanctions, anti‑bribery and corruption, fraud risk management, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, customer risk rating, and broader financial crime risk frameworks.
- Helping clients enhance their financial crime controls, operating models, business processes, and regulatory compliance capabilities while balancing effectiveness with customer experience.
- Excellent understanding of economic or market issues and the ability to interpret their impact on clients.
- Act as a key point of contact for clients on financial crime and compliance matters.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to support pipeline development, while demonstrating sound commercial judgment.
- Proactively identify and originate new business opportunities across existing and prospective clients, including leading and contributing to proposal development and client presentations.
- Lead and manage complex engagements related to FCC, fraud risk management, AML/CFT, sanctions, anti‑bribery and corruption, financial crime risk assessments, and associated regulatory compliance matters for clients.
- Utilize data analytics tools and techniques to improve transaction monitoring and sanction screening defenses and conduct transaction system optimization using advanced analytical algorithms to identify trends.
- Review work performed by team members to ensure technical quality.
- Manage, coach, and mentor team members.
- Contribute to team training, knowledge sharing, and development initiatives.
- Leverage technology to continually learn, improve service delivery, and maintain leading‑edge best practices.
- Strong presentation skills and proficiency with PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
- Build an understanding of our solutions, share knowledge and be able to draw on subject matter specialists accordingly.
- Self‑motivated with energy and drive.
- Manage financial aspects of engagements by tracking fees and communicating issues.
- Actively improve operational efficiency on projects and internal initiatives, consistently driving projects to completion and ensuring high quality work.
- Only candidates with Big Four experience will be considered.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in Financial Crime Compliance (AML/CFT, sanctions, anti‑bribery & corruption and fraud) within the Big Four.
- Proven experience managing complex engagements and leading teams.
- Strong understanding of the local market and strong relationships.
- Strong understanding of regulator expectations and knowledge of other jurisdictions’ AML regulations; practical experience in the industry.
- Knowledge of the global risk and regulatory environment, especially developments in the FCC space.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CAMS, ICA, CFE, CPA, ACCA) are preferred.
- Demonstrate strong planning, execution and reporting skills.
- Analytical skills: ability to assess and decompose financial services industry processes using a risk and control focus.
- Experience across the MENA region.
- Flexibility to travel across the MENA region.
- Arabic proficiency is mandatory. Good English communication skills.
- Strong experience in FCC‑related technology projects, such as payments screening, transaction monitoring, and/or customer risk rating systems.
- Understanding of financial regulations and laws related to financial crime, such as the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctions.
