Job Summary
The Senior AML Auditor is responsible for conducting risk-based audits of Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF), and Targeted Financial Sanctions (TFS) controls to evaluate compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and internal policies. The role includes planning audit assignments, performing fieldwork, documenting findings, preparing reports, and supporting the continuous enhancement of the AML control environment.
Audit Planning- Participate in the planning of AML audit engagements.
- Prepare audit planning documents, risk assessments, and audit programs.
- Identify key AML and compliance risks.
- Define audit scope and testing strategies.
Perform audit testing over:
- AML Governance Framework.
- Customer Due Diligence (CDD).
- Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD)
- Know Your Customer (KYC)
- Customer Risk Rating.
- Transaction Monitoring.
- Sanctions Screening.
- Name Screening.
- High-Risk Customers.
- Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs).
- Correspondent Banking.
- Suspicious Transaction Reporting.
- AML Systems and Controls.
- Record Retention.
- AML Training and Awareness.
- Assess the effectiveness of:
- Business Risk Assessmentmethodology.
- Customer, Product, Geographic, and Delivery Channel Risk Assessments.
- Risk identification processes.
- Risk mitigation controls.
- Control effectiveness and residual risk assessments.
- Prepare audit work papers in accordance with audit standards.
- Document audit testing and evidence.
- Draft audit observations with supporting analysis.
- Perform root cause analysis.
- Recommend practical and risk-based corrective actions.
- Prepare high-quality audit reports.
- Follow up on management action plans.
- Identify opportunities to enhance AML controls and audit processes.
- Stay current with regulatory developments and emerging financial crime risks.
- Contribute to the enhancement of audit methodologies and best practices.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, or related discipline.
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
- Certified Anti
- Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) - Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)
- CPA or ACCA
- ICA AML Certification
- Other relevant professional certifications
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Internal Audit, AML, Compliance, Risk Management, or Regulatory Audit.
- Proven experience conducting AML and Compliance audits.
- Strong understanding of AML/CFT regulations, sanctions, and financial crime risk management.
- Experience preparing audit reports and communicating findings to management.
