To provide high-quality phlebotomy services to patients at their homes (Home Care – home visits), ensuring safe, accurate, and professional blood sample collection — including from newborns and children — in accordance with physicians’ requests and the standards of Dallah Home Care Services.
Key Responsibilities- Checking the completeness and accuracy of laboratory requests for essential data such as name, age, sex, etc., and following up to complete any missing items.
- Extraction of blood samples from patients at their homes, as requested by the doctors and concerned patients.
- Ensuring proper labeling, identification, and arrangement of collected samples to ensure safe transport to the laboratory.
- Assisting colleagues in performing bleeding time tests when necessary and in cases of difficult blood extraction.
- Transporting specimens that require urgent testing results to the laboratory promptly.
- Managing the required supplies and equipment in the Home Care phlebotomy kit and ensuring readiness for home visits.
As directed by the Head of Laboratory or Home Care Supervisor, and in the absence of the Receptionist, he/she is responsible for:
- Collecting cash payment receipts from patients not covered by employer contracts.
- Entering data in the system for credit invoices for patients covered by employer contracts.
- Advising patients about the procedures to follow for investigations — for example, any need to be in a fasting state or other preparation requirements.
- Maintaining all documents and worksheets related to home care phlebotomy updated and properly filed.
- Ensuring that all supplies used in the phlebotomy kit are within expiration dates.
- Implementing policies and procedures to achieve the Home Care Department’s goals and objectives in pursuance of Standards of Care and Quality/Performance Improvement.
- Participating in patient and family education to help patients and families better understand and participate in their care and make well-informed care decisions.
- Performing any other duties within his/her professional knowledge and skills as directed by the Head of Laboratory or the Home Care Department Supervisor.
- Minimum of one year working experience as a Medical Technologist.
- B.S. in Medical Technology or Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (4 years).
