Radiology Technologist

Specialist Radiological - work involving radiology procedures hospital in and out patients. It involves variety types of Radiographic imaging and requires knowledge of the use of equipment, density of the body and its anatomical terminology as well as ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing and non-ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. Work performs in accordance with established procedures of the department and with a Physician instruction as to plates needed.

It must be reviewed by the Senior Technologist or by Physicians on completion and occasionally during processing for results obtained.

• Ensures through his actions, either directly or indirectly, that a superior quality of medical treatment, compassion and understanding is given to every patient served at the NMC Hospitals and Clinics.
• Sets up and operates immobile and mobile radiologic equipment.
• Positioning patient in the most suitable posture.
• Taking care of the patient to avoid aggravation of injury and distortion of organs in the film due to the position assumed by the patient.
• Check diagnostic quality and proper positioning.
• Center the machine at the proper angles and height over the area to be x-ray.
• Measure the density of the area to x-ray.
• Compute the exposure time to produce radiographs of proper detail, density, contrast and freedom from distortion.
• Assist Radiologist in procedures.
• Measures and mixes Barium, kaolin and similar solution.
• Assist Radiologist during examination in designated positions of assigned examination.
• Keep records and files properly identified.
• Keep work area clean and orderly.
• Instruct students in radiologic methods and techniques as assigned.
• Responsible to educate patients /families as per their needs and to implement their whole role regarding patient / family education process as mentioned in patient & family education policy and procedure including documentation in patient medical record.
• They are knowledgeable about their essential role in patient and family education.
• Involves the patient/families in plan of care and respects patients/families regarding their goals and choices of patient care.
• Provides health promotion and health teaching thru methods appropriate to a patients’ developmental level, learning needs, readiness and ability to learn, language preference, culture and situations.
• Allots time necessary to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient education provided to patients/families with appropriate documentation.
• Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.

Radiology Manager and Department Head

Hospital medical and nursing staff. Staff of supporting professional services.

Education & License:

Bachelor of radiology technology.

Current license to practice radiography in permanent place of residence.

Professional license from SCFHS.

• Minimum of 2 years of proven experience inside the Operating Room (OR experience) and proficiency in operating mobile X-ray equipment.
• Fluency in verbal and written English. Preferable also in Arabic.
• Good general health and able to work extended hours under stress.
• Working knowledgeable of computer skills.
• Ability to cope with changing priorities, responsibilities and demands.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure within a surgical environment and maintain high standard patient care.
