SummaryConducts Physical Therapy (PT) evaluation of patients referred by the Hospital’s physicians. Develops and implements PT programs. Promotes the restoration of physical, functional, psychosocial abilities and aids in the adjustment to disability. Assists in the training of Physical Therapist and Physical Therapist Assistants.
Education / QualificationRequired:
- Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational or Physical Therapy is required
- Preferred sub-specialty:
Neurorehabilitation, musculoskeletal
- Qualifications:
- Physical Therapist:
Minimum Two (2) years of related experience with Master’s, or four (4) years with Bachelor’s is required. - Senior Physical Therapist:
Minimum Four (4) years as Senior Physical Therapist, or (Grade 09) related experience is required.- Average of annual performance appraisal at least (3.5) for the last four (4) years
- One hundred (100) hours of cumulative continued medical education [CME].
Valid and in a good standing License in current country of practice.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:- Reviews PT request and patient’s records to determine nature of therapy to be given.
- Performs objective clinical assessment to determine treatment goals and objectives.
- Plans and administers PT programs to patients to maximize function, relieve pain, and prevent disability. Develops treatment protocols and home programs, as appropriate.
- Administers treatments involving application of physical agent, modalities as well as manual therapy techniques as indicated. Supervises execution of treatment plan by subordinate personnel.
- Evaluates and records effects of treatments, response, and progress.
- Consults with physician and other healthcare personnel regarding treatment objectives. Liaises with and acts as a resource for other healthcare personnel regarding issues relating to PT.
- Instructs patients and caregivers in home program for improving functional activities and self-care.
- Provides peer review to staff physical therapist rotating through area of specialty and provides information for their performance evaluations.
- Incorporates quality improvement strategies in clinical practice.
- Follows all Hospital’s related policies and procedures.
- Participates in self and others’ education, training, and development, as applicable.
- Performs other related duties as assigned. Job Requirements
