Summary

Within the mission, vision and values of Saudi Arabian Ministry of National Guard – Health Affairs, responsible for managing the activities and functions of the Chromatography Unit within the Anti-Doping Services by ensuring effective and efficient delivery of various chromatography and mass spectrometry techniques on athlete’s urine/tissue/blood samples to produce reliable and accurate laboratory testings and results in line with clinical practice and saftey standards and all relevant policies and regulations.

Education/Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor Degree in Clinical Laboratory Services
Experience Post-Qualifications
  • For Bachelor Degree holder:
    Minimum of 8 (eight) years’ experience in a directly related laboratory setting, 3 (three) years of which in clinical chemistry/biochemistry field and in supervisory/management role – Essential.
  • For Master Degree / PhD Degree holder:
    Minimum of 5 (five) years experience in a directly related laboratory setting, 3 (three) years of which in supervisory/management role – Essential.
License

Current and in good Standing Nursing License/Registration (RN) to practice in country of residence

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage the operations and activities of Chromatography Unit within the Anti-Doping Services by ensuring the technological, logistical, clinical and administrative support are run smoothly including the effective turnaround times are achieved and optimal laboratory services are provided and in line with the standards of clinical practice and safety, policies and procedures, and regulating and accrediting bodies.
  • Responsible for the developments and implementation of the department policy and procedures to improve laboratory services with various chromatography and mass spectrometry techniques and laboratory workflow including the daily needs for routine analysis samples, chain of custody, sample preparation, instrumental analysis, data evaluation, confirmatory procedures, and analytical batches certifications. Ensure Laboratory Documentation Packages are organized.
  • Collaborate with Quality Management section for the development and implementation of a quality improvement program and risk control systems. Ensure proper planning and determining requirements, setting-up laboratory equipment and logistical requirements (including materials, solutions, reagents, glassware, plastic ware, etc.) and scheduling of work in the Chromatography Unit area.
  • Conduct technical evaluation and coordinate laboratory requirements to relevant departments (on instruments/system maintenance/suitability and logistical requisition) and to suppliers, as applicable.
  • Act as a primary contact for all Chromatography Unit requirements, keep scientific literature updated for effective laboratory performance, establish collaborative relationships with local and international anti-doping scientists/academic instructions for anti-doping laboratory improvement, participate in developing research projects and sourcing of funds from local and foreign sources (as required), resolve issues and specific operating problems, offering advice concerning the procedures/ techniques and equipment, maintain conformance with specific operational standards.
  • Identify new laboratory programs and analytical technqiues and coordinate with the immediate superior and Technical Manager for support and implementation.
