Essential Responsibilities and Duties
Reviews the patient s medical history and obtains the information needed to set up the Cardiopulmonary bypass machine and associated equipment Selects assembles sets up and tests the Cardio-pulmonary bypass machine to ensure that machine and associated equipment function according to specifications Operates Cardio-pulmonary bypass machine to maintain blood circulation to administer drugs and aesthetic agents and to control body temperature during surgery or respiratory failure of patient Monitors and observes operation of cardiopulmonary bypass machine and patient s physiologic variables such as blood temperature blood composition and flow rate adjusts equipment to maintain normal body functions and troubleshoots the related perfusion technology Performs routine maintenance cleaning and calibration of heart lung machine and ancillary perfusion services equipment
Provides extra-corporeal long-term life support for both adult and paediatric surgical medical patients Operates manages and troubleshooting the related technology Provides Assist Devices to surgical medical patients Operates manages and troubleshooting the related technology
Master s or Bachelor s Degree in a Health Allied, or Science plus a graduate of a perfusion-training program is required.
Experience RequiredGrade 09:
Two (2) years of related experience with Master s, four (4) years with Bachelor s is required.
Grade 10:
-Two (2) years as Perfusionist at KFSH&RC or (Grade 09) related experience is required.
-Average of annual performance appraisal at least (3.5) for the last four (4) years.
-One hundred (100) hours of cumulative continued medical education [CME].
Current Registration from country of origin and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) is required.
Knowledge of infant and adult clinical perfusion, blood salvaging techniques, and mechanical assist devices is required.
