Role ContextThe Housekeeping Coordinator
- Rooms will support daily rooms operations by monitoring occupancy reports, verifying room status, assigning cleaning priorities, and helping resolve housekeeping discrepancies with the Front Desk. The role plays an important part in guest satisfaction by ensuring vacant dirty rooms, rush rooms, departing rooms, and rooms previously marked Do Not Disturb are properly tracked and cleaned within required timelines. The selected candidate will help keep housekeeping communication accurate, paperwork complete, and operational teams aligned throughout each shift.
- Run sold room reports and review daily occupancy information to support housekeeping planning.
- Verify room status and identify discrepant rooms requiring coordination with Front Office or Housekeeping management.
- Prioritize room cleaning based on departing guests, rush room requirements, vacant dirty rooms, and guest arrival needs.
- Update the status of departing guest rooms and ensure room readiness information is accurate.
- Prepare and distribute room assignments to housekeeping associates according to operational priorities.
- Record, monitor, and update the list of Do Not Disturb rooms and follow up as per hotel procedures.
- Assign rooms previously on the Do Not Disturb list once they become available for cleaning.
- Ensure vacant dirty rooms are cleaned within the required time to support guest arrivals and hotel operations.
- Act as a liaison between Housekeeping, Engineering, Front Office, and Laundry teams.
- Document and resolve room discrepancies with the Front Desk in a timely and professional manner.
- Complete required housekeeping paperwork, reports, logs, assignment sheets, and operational records.
- Report maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, injuries, or guest room issues to the appropriate supervisor.
- Support housekeeping management in coordinating daily activities and operational follow-up.
- Use computers and hotel systems to enter, locate, update, and verify work-related information.
- Welcome and acknowledge guests according to hotel standards and respond to service needs with genuine care.
- Maintain confidentiality of hotel information and protect company assets.
- Follow company safety, security, grooming, hygiene, and service standards at all times.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with guests, colleagues, supervisors, and other departments.
- Build positive working relationships and support the team in reaching shared housekeeping goals.
- Perform additional reasonable duties requested by supervisors to support rooms and housekeeping operations.
- High school diploma, G.E.D. equivalent, or similar educational qualification.
- Minimum 1 year of related experience in housekeeping, rooms operations, hotel coordination, front office support, or hospitality service.
- No supervisory experience required.
- No license or certification required.
- Good understanding of room status tracking, housekeeping assignments, guest room readiness, and hotel service standards.
- Comfortable using computers and hotel systems to update records, reports, and room information.
- Strong attention to detail when reviewing room reports, discrepant rooms, Do Not Disturb rooms, and assignment records.
- Able to coordinate with Housekeeping, Front Office, Engineering, and Laundry teams in a professional manner.
- Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare accurate documents and speak clearly.
- Able to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods during a full work shift.
- Able to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 10 pounds without assistance.
