Role Overview
Saudi Gold Refinery (SGR) is seeking a Payroll Supervisor in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to manage end-to-end payroll operations for corporate staff, refinery operators, and laboratory technicians. This position oversees monthly compensation cycles, validates shift differentials and overtime approvals, and ensures strict compliance with Saudi labor regulations and statutory reporting requirements. The role maintains payroll accuracy across a mixed workforce while enforcing internal controls and supporting financial month-end closing activities.
The Payroll Supervisor will report directly to the VP of HR and will play a key role in maintaining payroll integrity, statutory compliance, and audit readiness across all SGR employment classifications. This position directly impacts employee trust and operational continuity by guaranteeing timely, accurate compensation and transparent dispute resolution.
Key Responsibilities- - Payroll Cycle Execution: Manages biweekly and monthly payroll runs by validating attendance records, calculating gross-to-net compensation, and processing bank transfer files within approved deadlines.
- - Statutory Compliance: Submits accurate wage data to the MHRSD Wage Protection System via the Mudad platform and remits GOSI contributions and unemployment insurance deductions according to regulatory schedules.
- - Shift and Overtime Validation: Reviews plant operator timesheets to verify shift differentials, hazard pay, and overtime multipliers against approved operational schedules and HSE records.
- - Data Integrity Management: Maintains the HRIS employee database by processing new hires, contract renewals, terminations, and salary adjustments while preserving audit trail documentation.
- - Financial Reconciliation: Partners with the Finance department to reconcile payroll registers with general ledger accounts, validate cash flow requirements, and resolve month-end variances.
- - Audit Preparation: Compiles payroll documentation, control evidence, and exception logs to support internal audit reviews and external statutory examinations.
- - Team Supervision: Directs daily activities of payroll analysts, assigns processing queues, and provides technical guidance to ensure uninterrupted payroll execution.
- - Employee Inquiry Resolution: Responds to compensation inquiries and resolves payroll disputes by referencing policy documents, system audit trails, and approved rate cards.
- - Process Optimization: Updates standard operating procedures for payroll processing, exception handling, and compliance reporting to reduce recurring errors and improve control effectiveness.
- - Holds a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
- - Possesses a minimum of six years of progressive payroll processing experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- - Demonstrates advanced proficiency in Saudi labor law, GOSI regulations, and MHRSD compliance frameworks.
- - Manages end-to-end payroll operations for a workforce exceeding 500 employees across multiple employment classifications.
- - Operates independently to resolve complex payroll discrepancies and statutory reporting exceptions without daily supervision.
- - Leads a team of payroll specialists while maintaining strict adherence to processing deadlines and control standards.
- - Applies advanced Excel functions and HRIS reporting tools to validate payroll calculations and generate management reports.
- - Maintains strict confidentiality of compensation data and enforces delegated authority limits for all payroll adjustments.
- - Brings prior experience managing payroll for shift-based industrial operations with complex overtime and hazard pay structures.
- - Has implemented or migrated payroll systems within a Saudi-based organization during the past three years.
- - Holds working knowledge of contractor payroll reconciliation and third-party manpower billing processes.
- - Possesses experience supporting external audit engagements for payroll and compensation compliance.
- - Achieves a payroll accuracy rate exceeding 99.5 percent across all monthly processing cycles.
