One focus area of the Amazon Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) mission is to provide tools, resources, and environments that support safe, efficient, healthy behaviors and encourage employees to proactively manage their health and wellbeing. To support this focus area, Amazon is seeking an experienced and innovative Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Manager to join our team.
Responsibilities- Partner with site operations teams to execute company WHS policies and ensure compliance with all applicable local and regional regulations.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using lean principles and Kaizen to reduce conditional and ergonomic risks in processes.
- Build trust and confidence with Operations Teams and direct reports, inspiring change through comprehensive risk assessments and WHS data analysis.
- Communicate WHS policies clearly and consistently, both verbally and in writing, and provide training to Operations Leaders and WHS team members.
- Identify best practices and incorporate standard methodologies to continuously improve the WHS landscape.
- Serve as the WHS site point of contact, delivering hands‑on training and guidance in the field.
- Create and execute leadership development plans for WHS Associates, communicating expectations and providing frequent feedback.
- 5+ years of growing responsibilities in EHS or WHS and/or Workplace programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations.
- Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment.
- Experience leading multiple direct reports or multiple sites.
- Bachelor’s degree in safety, environmental, ergonomics or a related field required.
- Experience with OSHA and other health and WHS regulatory requirements.
- Experience in a distribution center or manufacturing WHS environment with a mix of exempt and non‑exempt employees at a site of at least 250 people preferred.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Certified EHS/HSE/WHS Professional preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort collaborating with site leaders.
- Ability to develop and implement department goals and strategies.
- Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem‑solving ability.
- Ability to adapt well to fast‑paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy.
