Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of commercial strategies related to transport projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and governance frameworks.
  • Manage contract administration activities including negotiation, execution, change management, claims, and close‑out processes.
  • Oversee procurement activities, ensuring competitive sourcing, value for money, and compliance with internal policies and relevant regulations.
  • Drive cost management and budgeting processes to support project delivery within approved financial parameters.
  • Collaborate with project delivery, finance, legal, and risk teams to mitigate commercial risks and resolve issues promptly.
  • Develop and maintain commercial frameworks, policies, procedures, and templates tailored to transport projects.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to commercial and procurement teams to enhance performance and capability.
  • Ensure robust reporting and governance through regular updates to senior management and executive stakeholders.
  • Engage with external stakeholders including contractors, suppliers, and regulators to maintain strong commercial relationships.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvements in commercial processes and practices.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Commercial Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Transport Management, or related field. Postgraduate qualifications (Masters or MBA) preferred.
Experience and Skills
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in commercial leadership roles within transport infrastructure or related sectors.
  • Strong expertise in contract administration, procurement strategy, and commercial risk management.
  • Proven track record managing complex transport projects, preferably within large infrastructure or governmental organisations.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working within stringent governance and compliance frameworks.
  • Ability to drive cost control and value optimisation strategies.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and commercial acumen.
