Overview
The Sr. Bus Operations Manager will have a minimum of 15 years of managerial experience and will oversee all bus operation services and activities performed by the bus operator. He will verify that they are carried out safely and in accordance with the contract and to the employer's satisfaction. His main responsibility is to manage the contract of the bus operator, a multi‑billion contract.
He will lead a team of experts that shall monitor, report and manage the bus operator delivery in terms of deployment of the network, timetables and related planning activities, contractual and performance KPIs, optimization of the bus network service, incident response, SOP compliance, maintenance regime, etc.
The Sr. Bus Operations Manager will also ensure that the interfaces between the ITS, bus, infrastructure, metro O&M and other public transport contractors are efficient: activity schedules are consistent, handover procedures are respected, technical information is shared, training on systems and access is normally supplied, testing and commissioning activities are performed transparently, etc.
Role And Responsibilities- Oversee operations through all phases of the bus and ITS contractor activities to verify that all contractual requirements are fully met.
- Be responsible for the ongoing day‑to‑day delivery of passenger services in accordance with KPI regime and best market practices; safety and excellence will be at the heart of all these services.
- Champion a customer‑focused approach to adjust delivery quality to the population of Riyadh city.
- Lead studies performed by the team for network expansion and other strategic objectives of RCRC.
- Supervise the Operations Control Centre (bus operations) and coordinate special situations like crisis coordination, disaster recovery, etc.
- Produce reports for the PMS team to be presented to the client on punctuality, kilometres, and all required KPI reports.
- Compare operational data from ITS systems and inspection status prior to preparing the reports for the client.
- Develop crisis‑management procedures and interface protocols with the metro project.
- Be available 24 × 7 on a 365‑day basis to attend major incidents, accidents, and crises that may occur.
- Develop and track mitigations on incidents; coordinate with specialists and third parties, and follow up to ensure no such incidents occur in the future.
- University degree.
- Demonstrated track record of delivering large and complex operational and service‑led transport projects.
- Minimum of 15 years' experience in bus operations in either of the following combinations:
- Operational experience in a bus operating company, and/or
- Client organization managing a bus operator, and/or
- Consultant team managing a bus operator.
- Must be of Western nationality such as North American or European.
- Proven organizational skills, including time management.
- Project management experience.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Self‑sufficiency and an ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
