  • The Bus Operation Manager will oversee the operations through all the phases of the Bus and ITS Contractors’ activities to verify that all the contractual requirements are fully met. The Bus Operation Manager shall be responsible for ongoing day to day operations and delivery of a safety and excellence in passenger services in accordance to the KPI regime and best practices, as well as any need to start new lines and stations.

    Managing station and depot inspections
  • The Bus Operation Manager will be responsible on a 24/7 basis for attending incidents, accidents and emergencies that may occur on the Bus Project.
  • He will also supervise the OCC bus operations and coordinate special situations like crisis coordination, disaster recovery, etc. He will present reports to RCRC on punctuality, kilometers, and all required KPI reports. He will compare operational data from ITS systems and inspections prior to issue the reports to RCRC.
Role and Responsibilities
  • Oversee start of operations through all the phases of the Bus and ITS Contractors’ activities to verify that all the contractual requirements are fully met.
  • Responsible for the ongoing day to day delivery of passenger services in accordance with the KPI Regime and best market practices. Safety and excellence will be at the heart of all these services.
  • Shall be responsible for start of the operations of new service, station and depots including all the inspections that are required as per the agreed SOPs.
  • Lead the operations on a 24/7 basis for resolving incidents, accidents and emergencies that may occur on the Bus Project.
  • Leading the development of the operations and maintenance manual.
  • Review and manage the Bus Operator monthly and annual performance reports.
  • Generate, review and manage PMS monthly and annual performance reports.
  • Supervise the Operations Control Centre (bus operations) and coordinate special situations like crisis coordination, disaster recovery, etc.
  • Produce reports for the PMS team to be presented to the client on punctuality, kilometers, and all required KPI reports.
  • Compare operational data from ITS systems and inspections status prior to preparing the reports for the client.
  • Play an integral role within the development of base optimization and future expansion plans, with routes, fleet allocation and depot strategies.
  • Develop Crisis management procedures
  • Should any incident occur, he shall promptly be present at the scene, provide advice and support to the client’s senior management or their representation until the situation is brought under control.
  • Support the Senior Manager to produce reports based on such incidents and maintain them for further investigation as required.
  • Any mitigations on incidents will be coordinated with specialists and third parties, these will be followed up to ensure no such incidents occurs in the future.
  • The Bus Operations Manager will monitor the operations contractor to see how effectively the following are managed. inventory management, correct ordering of supplies, maintenance and replacement of operational equipment, optimizing processes, overseeing the operations team, and liaising with external stakeholders etc.
Qualification and Education Requirements
  • University Degree
Mandatory Experience

10 years’ experience in bus operations either in:

  • Operational experience in Bus operating company, and/or Client organization managing a Bus operator, and/or Consultant team managing Bus operator.
  • Contract management in a Public Transport environment.
  • Prior experience dealing with multiple Contractors and their performance against KPI regime
  • Experience dealing with Operating procedures, instructions and code of conduct handbooks
  • Experience dealing with timetables and materials related to successful and smooth operations of the transportation system
  • Transportation and Safety Procedures
  • Must be prepared to be available on a call‑out basis should an incident occur outside of the normal operational hours. Maximum time to respond to call‑out will be 30 minutes.
  • Exposure dealing with any investigations and mitigations on any incidents and comfortably dealing with third parties (Police, Civil Defence, security agencies etc)
  • Prior experience dealing with OEMs, manufacturers and independent consultants/accident investigative agencies will be a requisite.
