Provides senior counsel and supports the development and implementation of management processes, programs, policies, plans and systems that contribute strategically to the overall effectiveness and efficiency of Research Centre management practices.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties1. Assists the Executive Director, Research Centre in providing advice on all issues pertinent to the administration of the Research Centre.
2. Conducts research and provides recommendations on viable management systems and concepts that may be adopted by the Research Centre.
3. Acts in any senior capacity as team leader in major Research Centre Administration projects, as directed by the Executive Director, Research Centre.
4. Advises Departments Chairmen in planning projects, conducting studies/projects, developing project implementation plans and coordinating studies and implementation plans with concerned Hospital departments.
5. Coordinates the development of management information systems for improving efficiency in Research Centre Administration.
6. Provides advice on the presentation, allocation and monitoring of Research Centre budget/resources.
7. Analyses data for measuring departmental productivity in comparison to institutional cost and recommends decisions regarding future allocation of budget and resources.
8. Maintains liaison with key organization management staff as required.
9. Takes a lead role in the recruitment of staff in the Research Centre.
10. Supervises sections and conducts performance evaluations of staff as assigned.
11. Assists the Executive Director, Research Centre in conducting special/projects.
12. Serves on committees as assigned by the Executive Director, Research Centre.
13. Maintains knowledge of current trends in specialty and makes recommendations for continuous improvement such as maximizing utilization of research resources.
14. Lends technical experience and support in specialty to all departments within the Research Centre.
15. Reviews documents/files and informs/advises on related significant issues.
16. Participate in department / unit specific and Hospital wide quality improvement plan preferred.
17. Follows all Hospital related policies and procedures.
18. Participates in self and other’s education, training and development; as applicable.
19. Performs any other related duties as assigned.
EducationPhD or Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration, Hospital Administration, Research Administration or equivalent with Bachelor of Science Degree in scientific discipline is required.
Experience RequiredSeven (7) years with PhD or ten (10) years with Master’s Degree of professional experience in the field of management, including a minimum of four (4) years managerial/ supervisory experience and in similar duties and functions of this job in a Hospital setting or a large public organization, required.
