Regional Context

The Middle East and North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan (MENAAP) Region serves twenty two countries across different income groups, of which fourteen are active/potentially active IBRD/IDA borrowers (Afghanistan, Algeria, Djibouti, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Pakistan, Syria, West Bank and Gaza, Tunisia, and Yemen), with a total of 251 projects and over $51 bn in total commitment. Eight are users of the Region's non-lending services, mostly on a reimbursable basis (Bahrain, Kuwait, Libya, Malta, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates).

The mission of the region is to foster sustainable growth with a focus on job creation and poverty reduction, economic and social inclusion, and good governance. The region attaches importance to creating a supportive work environment based on the values of teamwork, transparency, trust, and client service, underlined by professional excellence. The region places high value on diversity. The region is organized into seven Country Departments (CMUs), the Office of the Regional Chief Economist, and the Development Effectiveness Unit (MNADE).

The World Bank Group in Saudi Arabia

The partnership between the World Bank (WB) and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) goes back almost 70 years and continues to grow. In 2025, the World Bank Group placed its Regional Hub office for the MENAAP Region in Riyadh. The growing office houses the Regional Vice President, the Regional Practice Directors, Regional Hub Office Manager, as well as close to 100 senior specialist and support staff.

The WB engagement in KSA focuses on partnerships, knowledge, and technical advisory support. The World Bank’ s Reimbursable Advisory Services (RAS) engagements are directed towards strengthening institutional capacity within the government entities and assisting in developing legislation and policies that advance the Kingdom’s development goals. The WB engagement in KSA supports the realization of the Vision 2030 and includes work on the investment and business climate, education, health, labor markets, transport, energy, water, agriculture, urban planning, economic management, public financial management, PPPs, and SME, among others.

The Regional Hub Office in Riyadh is part of the World Bank’s Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Country Management Unit (CMU) which serves as the principal liaison between the World Bank and the six Arab States of the GCC, with additional country offices in Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.

The World Bank is seeking to recruit a highly qualified candidate for the position of Driver in the Saudi Arabia Hub Office. The Driver will be based in Riyadh Country Office and will report to the Hub Manager.
