The role will serve as the central point of coordination between airport authorities, consultants, designers, contractors, regulatory bodies, internal project teams, and other delivery partners.

The successful candidate will ensure that interface responsibilities are clearly defined, decisions are documented, emerging conflicts are addressed promptly, and all project components remain aligned with approved schedules, safety standards, and regulatory obligations.

Role Context

The Interface Manager will oversee coordination between the many organizations and work packages involved in airport development. These interfaces may include terminals, airside facilities, landside infrastructure, utilities, baggage systems, security systems, aviation technology, roads, buildings, and operational stakeholders. Effective interface management is essential to prevent design conflicts, construction delays, duplicated scope, incomplete responsibilities, and disruption to airport operations. The role will create a structured framework for identifying dependencies, assigning ownership, tracking decisions, and escalating unresolved matters before they affect project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the project interface management plan.
  • Establish interface governance procedures, reporting requirements, workflows, and escalation routes.
  • Identify and document interface points across airport facilities, infrastructure systems, work packages, and stakeholder organizations.
  • Maintain a comprehensive interface register covering technical, physical, operational, contractual, and programme dependencies.
  • Define interface ownership, responsibilities, target dates, required actions, and closure criteria.
  • Facilitate regular interface meetings, workshops, and coordination reviews.
  • Ensure stakeholders remain aligned on design assumptions, responsibilities, schedules, and delivery requirements.
  • Act as the principal point of contact for interface-related matters.
  • Coordinate with airport authorities, project teams, consultants, contractors, regulators, operators, and third parties.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication between internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure all relevant parties receive timely information about project progress, design developments, and interface changes.
  • Identify potential interface conflicts early in the design and construction lifecycle.
  • Assess the effects of interface issues on safety, operations, cost, schedule, quality, and project scope.
  • Develop practical mitigation and resolution strategies.
  • Coordinate action plans with responsible stakeholders and monitor progress through closure.
  • Escalate critical or unresolved interface issues to senior management.
  • Support multidisciplinary coordination between architecture, structures, MEP, aviation systems, security, utilities, operations, and construction teams.
  • Ensure that design and construction packages are integrated and compatible.
  • Monitor interface milestones against the approved project programme.
  • Highlight delayed decisions, incomplete information, and dependencies affecting critical activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of meetings, technical decisions, agreements, actions, and approvals.
  • Prepare interface matrices, control documents, decision logs, action trackers, and status reports.
  • Ensure interface documentation is current, traceable, accessible, and properly controlled.
  • Prepare regular reports and dashboards for senior management and project stakeholders.
  • Present current interface status, key risks, overdue actions, and required decisions.
  • Verify compliance with relevant aviation regulations, airport standards, contractual requirements, and project procedures.
  • Promote safety, quality, and regulatory compliance during all interface activities.
