DESCRIPTION

UNIT NAME:
Labour and Delivery
Patient Population:
Obstetric patients with more than and equal to 20 weeks of gestational age for low and high risk pregnancy.
Hours of Operation: 24 hours / 7 days per week
# of Beds:
Assessment Room - 7, Delivery Rooms - 11, Neonatal resuscitation bay - 3

• Low risk term pregnancy
• High risk pregnancy (term and preterm)
• Pregnancy with comorbidity

• Fetal monitoring (external/internal/doppler)
• Cardiotocograph (CTG) surveillance through centricity perinatal network (CPN)
• Induction / augmentation of labour
• Care of patient with tocolytic agent
• Amniotomy / artificial rupture of membrane
• Care of patient with epidural analgesia
• Assisting with/perform spontaneous vaginal delivery
• Assisting with instrumental vaginal delivery
• Assisting with vaginal breech delivery
• Pre-operative care for emergency cesarean section
• Assist with/perform repair of vaginal laceration/episiotomy
• Initial care of newborn
• Assist and support breastfeeding

• Bachelor's Degree in Midwifery or Nurse/Midwife
• Current licensure as a professional registered nurse
• Minimum of three years current clinical nursing experience following licensure/registration in the country of origin
