Summary

Within the mission, vision and values of Saudi Arabian Ministry of National Guard – Health Affairs, lead, manage and oversee the activities of the assigned Nursing departments by assuming a 24-hour accountability; oversee clinical nursing performance and priority setting underpinned by the development of policy, procedures and guidelines.

Education/Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • OR Associate Degree/Diploma or country equivalent + Bachelor’s in Nursing related field
Experience Post
- Qualifications:

  • Experience from North America, Western Europe, Australia, or New Zealand is required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience post-qualification.
  • Minimum of one (1) year in medication safety or a related specialty.
License:
  • Current and in good standing Nursing License/Registration (RN) to practice in country of residence
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead and coordinate medication safety activities within the Mental Health Center, promoting safe medication practices and reducing risk of errors.
  • Provide clinical guidance and bedside support to nursing staff during medication administration, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures and evidence-based practice.
  • Educate and train nursing staff on medication safety principles, high-risk medications and error prevention strategies, based on identified learning needs.
  • Monitor compliance with medication safety standards, policies and documentation requirements through regular audits and safety rounds.
  • Review, analyze and report medication errors, near misses and adverse drug events; identify trends and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists, physicians and multidisciplinary teams to improve medication management processes and patient safety outcomes.
  • Participate in the development, review and implementation of medication-related policies, procedures and clinical guidelines aligned with organizational and international standards.
  • Support and lead quality improvement initiatives related to medication safety; track key performance indicators and implement action plans for improvement.
  • Assess and validate nursing competencies related to medication administration; address performance gaps in collaboration with nurse managers and educators.
  • Act as a clinical resource and mentor for nurses, students and new staff, promoting best practices in medication safety within mental health settings.
  • Maintain accurate records of education, competency assessments, audits and safety activities; prepare reports for leadership as required.
  • Address medication safety risks specific to mental health, including psychotropic medications, polypharmacy and controlled substances management.
  • Promote a culture of patient safety, accountability, and continuous improvement within the nursing team and across the organization.
  • Participate in committees, meetings and organizational initiatives related to medication safety and quality of care.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
