Education/QualificationsRequired:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- Qualifications:
- Minimum Two (2) years of clinical experience post qualification
- Minimum One (1) year in the Recovery Room Department
Current and in good standing Nursing License/Registration (RN) to practice in country of residence.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:- Provide immediate post anesthesia care to adult and pediatric patients following surgical and procedural interventions.
- Perform systematic assessments of airway patency, respiratory status, cardiovascular stability, neurological status, and pain level.
- Monitor patients receiving general, regional, or conscious sedation and recognize early signs of complications.
- Manage airway support including oxygen therapy, suctioning, oral airways, and escalation to advanced support when required.
- Monitor cardiac rhythm, hemodynamic status, oxygen saturation, and level of consciousness using appropriate monitoring equipment.
- Administer prescribed medications including analgesics, antiemetics, reversal agents, and IV fluids within the scope of the Registered Nurse license.
- Identify and respond promptly to post operative complications such as airway obstruction, bleeding, hypotension, arrhythmias, and delayed emergence.
- Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate safe recovery and transfer of care.
- Provide clear handover communication to receiving units using structured reporting tools.
- Educate patients and families regarding post procedure care, activity restrictions, and warning signs prior to discharge when applicable.
- Ensure discharge criteria are met prior to transfer or home discharge in ambulatory cases.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of recovery parameters and interventions.
- Adhere strictly to infection prevention and control standards.
- Participate in emergency response and code situations within the recovery area.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient safety and recovery outcomes.
- Participate in clinical audits and evidence based practice activities.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.
- Demonstrate accountability, professionalism, and independent clinical judgment in a fast paced perioperative environment.
