Postpartum Patients and their Newborns
Antenatal patients for Elective Caesarean Section
PRIMARY PATIENT DIAGNOSES:
Post vaginal, instrumental or caesarean section deliveries.
Normal newborns / Newborns with minor complications
Elective Caesarean Section
- Routine and Emergency Patient Care
- Adult Physical Assessment
- Obstetrical Assessment
- Post-partum Assessment
- Newborn Physical Assessment
- Fetal surveillance (outreach only)
- Newborn Care, e.g. breastfeeding, cord care, circumcision, vaccinations
- Diabetic Protocol and blood glucose testing
- Pre-operative and post-operative care Caesarian Section
- Breastfeeding and mother-craft skills
- Administration of blood and blood products
- Venous Thrombosis Prophylaxis
- Fall prevention
- Pain Management
- Patient and Family Education
