The Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Unit CSICU cares for Pediatric patients requiring surgical treatment of cardiac or thoracic problems This population includes patients requiring or having had thoracic surgery of the heart lungs or great vessels Off-service patients requiring ICU cardiac monitoring or other nursing services may be admitted based on the availability of beds
Surgical Procedures- Most commonly seen surgical procedures include Congenital cardiac defect repairs
Coronary artery bypass surgery
Valve repair and or replacement
Heart transplantECMOVAD bridge to recovery and or transplant
Pacemaker implantation
Left ventricular assist device
Assist with emergency procedures at bed side open chest ECMO cannulation percutaneous tracheostomy
